The first step toward change is awareness.
Creating awareness at home and abroad about the distressing situation of refugees from Tawergha is number two on the list of actions for this foundation.
To start somewhere in our first week we wrote to newspapers, embassies and institutions such as the UN, NATO or the Dutch Government and creating this website was the closing action for the first week of activities for action number two on the list.
There will be more to come , and with your support, we hope that by next year, the people of Tawergha are safe at home again.
We have published our steps and actions including the result or the replies to the right.
If you have good ideas or additions please let us know, because as you might have noticed we are still searching and are open for suggestions. You could make a start to help us out by sharing this website with your acquaintances, friends and family.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Nelson Mandela (1918 - 2013) May you rest in peace.
To be free is not merely to cast off one's chains, but to live in a way that respects and enhances the freedom of others.
No one is born hating another person because of the colour of his skin, or his background, or his religion.
People must learn to hate, and if they can learn to hate, they can be taught to love, for love comes more naturally to the human heart than its opposite.
To administer justice between two people is charity.
The Prophet said;
"Help your brother, whether he is an oppressor or he is oppressed."
People asked;
"…It is right to help him if he is oppressed,
but how should we help him if he is an oppressor?"
The Prophet said;
"By preventing him from oppressing others."
A time comes when silence is betrayal.
Even when pressed by the demands of inner truth, men do not easily assume the task of opposing their government's policy, especially in time of war.
Nor does the human spirit move without great difficulty against all the apathy of conformist thought within one's own bosom and in the surrounding world.
Moreover, when the issues at hand seem as perplexing as they often do in the case of dreadful conflict, we are always on the verge of being mesmerized by uncertainty.
But we must move on.
Tawergha Foundation Actions & Results
We have created a dedicated page with actions and results as we didn't have enough room here. Click this link to check out what we are doing.
Official Report & Info pages...
Check out the official report we published this month on the current status of the reconciliation process. It has been send to nearly 1000 key players (UN, NATO, embassies, polictial parties, governments, NTC, GNC and Misrata Local Council members etc.) so now nobody can claim: wir haben es nicht gewusst...
Check out this link for all (100x) the official reports on the Tawergha case and check out this link for all the news items in chronological order on one page.
We started a taskforce, working on multiple multimedia platforms to keep the pressure on the Libyan government and the Misrata Local Council and their citizens and next month we will send 11.500 emails requesting support from businesses in N-Africa and the Middle East. We are about to publish our first official report on the Misrata Tawergha reconciliation process.
We won't registrate all the steps & results on this page anymore as it just won't fit. We have had five major campaigns for Tawergha up & running in 2013 like the massive email campaign and the Avaaz campaign which we are extending in 2014. For more information on our actions please check the 'what can I do page!?'
Today we wrote the Avaaz organization and asked them to start a petition for the support of the people of Tawergha.
Today we wrote the Nelson Mandela Foundation asking them for assistance in creating awareness. Nelson Mandela has been a friend of the Libyan people for a long time.
We wrote Oprah today asking her to put the word out on the street that this won't do. Can't think of anyone better suited than Oprah to create the awarenes these people deserve.
Every step toward the goal of justice requires sacrifice, suffering, and struggle; the tireless exertions and passionate concern of dedicated individuals. Today we asked for the support & dedication of the (African American) church community.
We've build this site and contacted the notary to set up the Tawergha Foundation.
We offered free IT training for the people of Tawergha. Recieved reply with UN contact person details.
Mail to the Volkskrant (Newspaper)...
Explained the current status for the people of Tawergha as a reply to the artikel they wrote about Tawergha in 2011. Recieved reply from the editorial staff and Rob Vreeken who wrote the original artikel. He's in Irak at the moment but says a followup story might be a good idea.
Mail to the VPRO (Newspaper)...
Told them how suprised we were having read their last print on Libya as it was an exact copy written by an American think tank telling a tale how possitive the revolution in Libya turned out. We asked them if they could also write an artikel with the official reports written by the UN, HRW and Amnesty.
Expressed our concerns at the Dutch embassy in Libya and asked them to deliver our wories in Libya. We recieved a extensive reply a couple of weeks later explaining what the Dutch government is doing in Libya.
Expressed our concerns at the Libyan embassy in the Netherlands and asked them to deliver our wories in Libya.
Wiki Battle of Tawergha additions...
